I figure this will get asked often, so here is the answer!
I actually don’t know how to remove vocals or music - I’ve tried to discover how to do this many times, but it’s apparently a very difficult process and usually doesn’t create high quality results. What I do is scour the depths of the internet (ie, YouTube) for high quality studio acapellas or “official acapellas” and studio instrumentals or “official instrumentals”. If I can’t find any studio-quality versions of the song I want, and I’m still hellbent on using it in a mix, I will look for filtered acapellas or “DIY acapellas”, and I will use karaoke instrumentals, filtered instrumentals, or DIY instrumentals.
Unfortunately, that means my library of remix materials is limited to what I can find on the internet. However, there are quite a few remix forums cropping up all over the web where acapellas and instrumentals are becoming easier to find.
